1980 – 1990: Facing a New Age
During the 1980s and the 1990s, the fear of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or AIDS, gripped the world.
The first cases of AIDS in the US were reported in 1981 and by March 7, 1988, more than 30,000 people have died of AIDS.
In 1984, Dr. Warren Wiersbe took over as Back to the Bible General Director in 1984. And in 1990, Dr. Woodrow Kroll joined the ministry as the new General Director and Bible Teacher.
Today, Back to the Bible has a potential worldwide audience of 3.5 billion or 56% of the world’s population. Its radio broadcasts cover 64 unique programs, in 22 languages by more than 50 Bible teachers.
It has offices in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, India, Italy, Japan, Jamaica, Poland, Russia, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Philippines.
The 21st Century and Beyond
Looking back almost 70 years ago, there have been a lot of changes in the world.
Here at Back to the Bible, we welcome change. It is change that keeps our work exciting!
The 21st century brings new media opportunities through video, the Internet and mobile technology.
Back to the Bible believes that the world is entering a decade of significant global harvest. In this millennium, spiritual hunger around the world will continue to escalate. People will continue to search for answers to life's questions. Most of them will try to find it in new religions, trends and technologies, and even through wars and terrorism.
We know the answers are in God's Word. At Back to the Bible, we plan to continue our mission of teaching the Word and touching the world, a mission that had been started by our founder, Dr. Theodore Epp, seven decades ago.
The message of God's Word is still the only hope for the world filled with economic crises, world wars, savage conflicts and immorality.
